Today, most of the technology that produces any kind of sound works seamlessly on Bluetooth headphones such as Airpod. My computer, my phone and even Nintendo switch all support relatively seamless Bluetooth pairs, so I pop them out of the case and get to watch or play. One device I can think it doesn’t play comfortable with Airpods or any wireless headset is PS5.
This is how I found this: it was late and I wanted to play some Astro bot. I love the game but I can admit, it’s noisy. I was polite with my rest of my house, I decided to play with my Airpods programs, so I went to the usual stages: I put the AirPods in pairing, switch on PS5 and navigate to another Settings – Supplies – General – Bluetooth accessories. The AirPods appeared in the list, but when I tried to combine them, I was greeted by the following message: “PS5 does not support Bluetooth sound supplies.”
I’m sorry, what? The $ 500 PlayStation 5, which was launched in 2020, years after Bluetooth headphones were standard technology, does not support Bluetooth sound supplies? It would only make sense if Sony, like, would sell their own wired and wireless headphones, hoping you buy a couple of them instead of using the products you already own. Oh correct: they do. Ok, other companies sell headphones that are specifically designed for use with PS5, but become. Even the original switch now supports the Bluetooth sound, a feature that Nintendo added four years after the console publication. Sony was easily able to do the same.
My irritation aside, don’t worry: The answer is not to buy one of Sony’s ownership “sound supplies”. Instead, the problem is an easy, free solution – claiming a TV is willing to cooperate.
Connect Bluetooth headphones directly to the TV
In my frustration I did some google and stumbled upon This reddit yarn. OP wondered why they could not use Bluetooth sounds with PS5. Although there is no official explanation (but see the above probable) another offered Redittor This simple but attractive suggestion: Only connect your headphones with your TV.
You can do it? Why didn’t I think about it? Why didn’t I like that fact TV Is there a “modern” device with Bluetooth features? I have no answers, just solutions: just connect the AirPods to TV to use them with PS5.
For this, of course, you need a TV that supports Bluetooth sound accessories. If you don’t have one, this trick doesn’t work. However, my television is since 2017 and it happens, so I imagine that many unless most TVs bought for a decade or so, support this option.
What do you think so far?
Check the settings
Getting this activity may require you to attach your audio outputs. The PS5 audio source must be placed on TV and your TV audio output must also be internal speakers. If you are already using TV speakers, this is probably already set on both devices. But if you use external audio installation, such as the sound bar, check these settings double. In PS5 you will find this Settings> Sound> Audio Output. Go on your TV to the sound settings and make sure the output is placed on your own internal speakers and not on another device.
Connect your headphones or ear headphones
Once this is done, you need to connect Bluetooth headphones to the TV. Place them in pairing (this varies depending on the device, so find your headphones to learn how if you don’t know), then look for TV audio settings and find any Bluetooth accessories or devices. If you have this menu on your TV, you should be able to look for nearby devices and your headset should appear in the list. Choose them, wait for their pair of pairs and Presto: AirPods or other wireless headphones, now streams the sound coming from the TV, which means they also stream the sound from PS5.
Or use a Bluetooth voice witch
If your TV does not support Bluetooth, you still don’t have to buy a couple of Sony headphones. Instead, you can buy something much cheaper: a Bluetooth soundtaker. These attachments are equipped with Bluetooth features of the non-Bluetooth device. To connect it to PS5 or Your TV, attach the headphones to it and power it off. There are many alternatives, but something UGREN’s USB -C Bluetooth adapter seems to work well enough according to the reviews. Hell, even a home designed specifically for the switch before Nintendo added support for Bluetooth devices, operates on PS5.
You can pick one of these adapters for about $ 25, and although it is frustrating that you have to spend any money at all to get a feature that you should have, it is better than buying a whole new headset only for PS5 games without disturbing everyone around you.
