In many industrial sectors, the exporters of Canada have a way to escape the tariffs of US President Donald Trump’s blanket.
This Escape Hatch follows the Canada-USMekso Agreement (Cusma), which has signed Trump’s three-way free trade in 2018.
US and Canadian officials have said Cusma.
Trade policy experts say that most of Canada’s exports can be exempt, and it leads to companies rushing to do paperwork to get their products that are considered to be in accordance with the requirements.
Here is what you need to know about Cusma’s conformity and how it could protect much of the cross-border Canada’s cross-border trade from Trump’s tariffs.
What is the Cusma exception and why does it matter?

What Canadian exports are tariff-free through Cusma?
Because most of the products have the potential to get liberation, it is really faster to list products that do not.
Products that mainly contain non-North American content that are only transported to the United States from Canada are not Cusma compatible.
Exemption does not apply to products that encounter Trump sector-specific tariffs, by name, steel and aluminum 50 % tariffs and car imports to non-US content.
