I’m a marathon runner, and here I love (and hate) walking algae

As the walking albums began to become trendy, I admit I know the ambivalent. For those strangers, the walking plate is mainly a thin, ideal foldable treadmill that is designed especially for walking. Unlike traditional treadmills, they are compact enough to slide under the bed or lean against the wall, and most are 4-6 mph on top, not running. They exploded in recent years as more and more people are working at home and looking for convenient ways to stay active.

When someone who has completed twelve marathons and logged in thousands of miles from all mountain paths to the city streets, I felt the idea of walking on a compact treadmill. But after a few months of regular use – especially with the Merach W50, which I check here – I have developed stronger opinions on walking plates.

The best reasons for getting a walking album

Here I have grown really appreciated that my apartment has a walking plate.

  • Recovery game: The biggest announcement for me has been to use a walking album to active recovery. After long runs or intense training periods, I either sat completely in place (which left me stiff) or forced myself for another walk when my legs shouted. The walking pillow offers the perfect middle country. I can maintain a gentle 2.5 mph, watching Netflix, helping my feet recover without commitment to dress and move outside.

  • A rainy day’s relief: I live in Brooklyn, I have experienced my share of the raw winter and summer training season. Although I still ran outside in most conditions (it is part of mental toughness training), getting a walking album means that I never have to overtake the movement completely. On days, when the heat makes the outdoors truly dangerous or when I deal with minor injuries that prevent running but allow for walking, it has been invaluable.

  • Multi -task: This also applies to non -runners: I love that I can walk by doing other things. I have included light walking for daily Duolingo training and my tube has never been higher. Muy bueno. When I stay only 1-1.5 km / h, I’ve even done some light stretch routines when walking easily. It has transformed previously sitting functions into opportunities for light movement.

  • Formulation: One unexpected benefit has been the ability to work in my government in my government. The consistent pace and the smooth surface make it easier to focus on position, arm fluctuation and foot size without taking care of the terrain or traffic. I hope these improvements can really turn to better running during my easy recovery magazine.

Disadvantages for walking pillows

Here is what I considered more closely before spending hundreds of dollars on a walking album.

What do you think so far?

  • Noise: Despite marketing “Whisper -Quiet”, noise causes noise. Engine Hums, the belt creates a subtle early sound, and if you are not completely focused, there is a random stroke. If you live in an apartment or have family members from home, this can be a real thing. I wouldn’t use me when the downstairs neighbors try to sleep.

  • The compromise of the strap size: Most walking plates have narrower and shorter belts than traditional treadmills. 5’6, “I don’t feel too limited, but I couldn’t imagine being 6’2” and I log in for a lot of time on a walking album. Shorter length means that you cannot extend your natural step completely, and the narrow width requires more attention to placing your feet than I would like. It is manageable, not just ideal for extended use.

  • Boredom: Here I can lose some of you: Walking in place, even if you watch TV or listen to a podcast, can be intense in a way that walks outside is never. There is something about the lack of changing landscapes and the mechanical nature of the movement against my runner’s brain rebels. Some days I’d rather walk in light rain rather than spend 45 minutes on a walking album. Likewise, even though the 4 mph top speed is fine for walking, it is a steep reminder that this is not a treadmill. If I suddenly find the motivation to break to run, it doesn’t matter – I’m stuck in walking.

  • Storage problems: As I explain here in the review, a more durable walking plate means storage. The Merach W50 does not fold, and over 6 inch high it does not easily slide under any furniture. Unless you want to give your walking plate dedicated floor space always, be sure to buy with one strong reviews for storage.

Walking pads are stones solid in certain cases. They are perfect for people with limited mobility, in harsh climate, teleworking people who want to increase their movement of their day, or anyone about injury. For runners, they are excellent additional tools for recovery and poor weather confidence.

My walking pillow has proven to be profitable for me. Would I buy it again? Likely. Do I recommend it to every runner? Definitely not. If you are looking for a primary heart solution or you hope to repeat the experience of walking outside, you may be disappointed. They are tools, not the real movement replace in the real world.
