Ban was raised in the import of US beef to Australia

Australia has removed the remaining bio -safety restrictions from US beef in a shop that the government can use to negotiate to eliminate merchant tariffs.

The ban on the import of US beef to Australia was raised in 2019, but the restrictions remained with Canada and Mexican cattle, which was slaughtered in America.

The government has checked these bio -safety rules after the Trump Administration requested them to leave.

Minister of Agriculture Julie Collins confirmed that the review was complete and the government expands access to Include beef derived from a cattle born in Canada or Mexico, which is imported and slaughtered in the United States.

“The US beef import report has gone through a strict science and risk -based assessment over the last decade,” he said in a statement.

“The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry is pleased with the effective monitoring measures of the US bio-safety risks in the United States.”

The United States has previously raised the Bio -Safety Rules as one list of trade complaints with Australia.
