Australia has eliminated bio -safety restrictions from the importance of beef from the United States, which is one of the most important complaints that led to the Trump administration placed by the tariffs in Australia.
The United States has been able to take its beef to Australia since 2019, but certain products were banned, including beef from Canada or Mexico and slaughtered in the United States.
Because the American supply chain is so integrated, it meant an effective ban on all US beef in Australia because it could not be reliably monitored.
According to the government, the United States presented the control of more solid movement earlier this year, which means that the livestock could be traced through the supply chain to its original premises, which gives more certainty that the products do not transport diseases or pests dangerous to Australia.
“The Albanian Labor Government will never compromise on bio -safety,” said Julie Collins, Minister of Agriculture.
“The import report of the US beef has gone through a strict science and risk -based assessment over the last decade.
The restrictions ended after a comprehensive review of the Agricultural Department. (ABC country region: Annie BrownIn
“The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry is pleased with the effective monitoring measures of the US bio-safety risks in the United States.”
While reacting to the announcement, Liberal Frontbencher Tim Wilson said that Australia’s national interest must be maintained.
“Bio -safety should not be compromised, and I really hope the government knows what to do,” Mr. Wilson said.
Most of the beef shop between Australia and the United States is Australian beef sold to America.
Last year, $ 14 billion was sold in Australian beef, and the United States was the largest market followed by China.
However, in April, US President Donald Trump set a 10 % tariff on Australian beef. The export restrictions on US beef were one of the most important complaints of the administration.
“The Australian market is still closed to fresh US beef and beef products,” the administration complained about its obstacles to foreign trade earlier this year.
Australia closed the market in the US beef in 2003 after the fateful neurological disease was found in American cattle cattle of the encephalopathy of beef spongform.
A report by Meat and Livestock Australia, released in June, stated that beef tariff had not damaged a trade that had risen 32 % year after year.
